How to easily convert eyeglasses to sunglasses



I've designed a way to modify eyglasses to turn them into sunglasses. Clever use of technology and materials creates a neat looking finished product.

I worked as an optician for 15 years and was so sick and tired of fixing broken and bent sunclips that I decided to go it on my own and make something new. The last 10 years has seen an explosion in the popularity of rimless frames. This demand has caused some equipment manufacturers to add features that make processing this type of optical lens easier and more ubiquitous. I combined this new lens processing equipment with my own selection of high-end raw materials to produce a state of the art product.

Big Difference 1. Curvature matching - Every design that came before this one used pre-selected lenses. What this means is there was no choice of lens color, and the base curvature of the sun lens was not likely to match parallel with the underlying spectacle lenses. When I make your clip, I am utilizing a lens that is the same base curve so that the lenses lay on top of one another perfectly. Base curve matching keeps sunlight, dust, and wind from getting in. It also makes the clip look a lot better.

Big Difference 2. No Prongs, Hooks, or Browbars - Before, it was almost like wearing two pairs of frames! First, the little rubber sleeves would wear off the prongs, and then they scratch the frames and lenses. The big metal wires aren't too stylish either, I call them "Birth Control Glasses."

Big Difference 3. Custom for any frame - Before, if you wanted a 'magnetic clip' you had a limited selection of styles to pick from. Now, you can make any frame, new or used, into a magnetic sunglass. The curve and shape are matched to the eyeglasses and are completely transparent to the frame design. Not only that, instead of one or two colors, I've got 15 different choices - all polarized.
